Hardwired vs. Wireless Systems
Wireless
If your home isn’t wired for an alarm system you will have the choice of having your system hardwired or installing wireless equipment. A Wireless installation is quicker and less obtrusive. Wireless devices are very reliable and effective. They don’t interfere with any other household appliances and the battery life is typically 3-5 yrs. Some drawbacks are that the sensors are larger and bulkier than hardwired sensors. If you go with smaller wireless sensors you sacrifice battery life and performance. To conserve battery life, wireless motion detectors will not give you a red light indicator when you walk in front of them like a hardwired motion does.
Hardwired
A hardwired system is virtually maintenance free. There are no sensor batteries to change. With our hardwired systems there will never be any exposed wiring. It is the most reliable and stable system. Hardwired door sensors hide in the door frame so you don’t even see them. A hardwired system takes much more skill and training. Only a seasoned expert can hardwire an alarm system properly. Many companies don’t even offer the hardwire option because they don’t have qualified technicians that can hardwire properly.
